Stay in touch - wthout becoming a stalker!

Often more results in network marketing means not talking to more people, but talking to a few good people consistently and follow-up with them continuously until their timing is right to join you in your venture.

The fortune is in the follow up! I am sure you have heard this before – but what are you doing to really be the best at follow-up and start harvesting the fortune that you deserve.

I put a small list together for you, which will give you some ideas about how you can stay in touch with your potential leaders and team mates without becoming a stalker.

Here is some of the things that I have found useful in the past:

1. Monthly newsletter (organise your database):

This requires a little organisation – but it is well worth 20min a month to send your database a newsletter. Remember to include information that will be valuable to your friends and prospects, even if they never join you in your business. Always give, give, give and evenutually you will receive, receive, receive…!

2. Find or write valuable content to send

Think of a particular kind of prospect you want to have in your business and find or write a piece of content that you think they will benefit from – sometimes you can forward them a facebook post – a blog post – a video that they will really enjoy and perhaps be entertained by. It will remind them of you, every time they re-read it, watch it again or listen to it again!

3. Send a greeting card:

A real paper card still out-does the email! And please sit down to write it yourself – people will appreciate the ink and pen and especially the time you took to write it for them!

4. Invite contact to an networking event

Instead of going to the event alone and standing in the corner, because you do not know who to talk to – ask a friend or colleague that is either a potential prospect or a great referral source to come with you to an event!

5. Contact a prospect and ask for advice

This is always great – we all want to feel like we can help and advice to others. Call someone and ask them for advice on something you are doing – this will spar a conversation and you will know how they are doing and if their timing is nearing!

6. Invite to a social activity (sports, theatre, lunch etc)

Most of our business is not done in a formal suit or in an office – so invite some prospects to a sports activity or other social function and get to know them better. Create a solid relationship!

7. Form a mastermind group (6 people you trust)

This could be a great exercise of staying in touch with a selected few who could be either great prospects or referral sources for your business, a few of your own leaders or people from the industry you would like to learn from and stay in touch!

If you enjoyed this post – forward it to your team and colleagues in the industry!

Personally, I enjoy staying in touch with people! If you would like to know what I did to create a multi-6 figure network marketing business, drop me your details here.

Many times people ask me why I need a system for such a simple business like network marketing. Other times, I hear people say that systems are everything to network marketing. Neither of these extremes hold true in my opinion. But a proven system is certainly important, so you can duplicate success.

1. Avoid the sales(wo)man syndrome

Many times in my career I come across very powerful and capable sales people, who are either experienced or not in the network marketing profession and I often see them fail miserable in the long run… unless they start implementing some network marketing support and training system. You see, network marketing is not so much about how many people you can successfully sponsor into your organisation (although that’s crucial in the short term), it is more about how successfully you can teach a lot of people to duplicate your activity. If you do not use a proven system, you will most probably teach very few people and duplicate your success less …

2. Do not re-invent the wheel – use a proven one

Use a system to create long-term results

Creating your own system is both time-consuming and may require you to invest considerable financial capital, but most importantly, if you do not have a track-record of success in network marketing, you may not know what exactly is required to create fast and efficient duplication in your team. This is why you should always use a system that has already given success to your sponsor or a successful upline in the company of your choice. Always. Become a good student of the system and do only what is required of you.

3. Make it simple to repeat for your prospects

I love this trap that we sometimes fall in. We want to look good in front of our new prospects, so we say more than we need to say, we present better than the tools we are meant to point to, all in all – its more about us looking good than thinking about the most important person: YOUR PROSPECT! If you really want to sponsor like a super-star and see fast growth in your team, then you need to keep it simple, so that your prospect can see that even without any detailed knowledge they can duplicate what you are doing tomorrow. This is the key. Use the system and be a dispensable part of it not an indispensable focus of it. Remember, you want your business to growth WITHOUT YOU … eventually :)

My best advice is – hold on to the coat-tails of someone who understands how to use a system and how to duplicate it and become a great student and teach thousands how to do the same. Become a teacher of all teachers and you will master your success in network marketing.

I would love to hear from you if you read my blog regularly. What kind of questions you have for me? and what would you like to see me write about in the future?

I am enjoying my stay in Asia and continue to do what I enjoy most everyday – teaching people how to teach others the simple & duplicatable business of network marketing!

I am asked many times why a bran new distributor in a network marketing company should focus to build their business in their back yard first, before exploring other cities and especially building a business internationally and globally. Today I am going to summarise the 3 main reasons.

I remember signing up in my first company in Australia and asking my upline at the first weekly business opportunity meeting when I can open Italy. I smile when I think back to that as now, every day, I have distributors asking me about the next exotic country and countryside town they have a friend in.

1. Existing systems and support:

Most likely, your sponsor will know how to point out the local support and systems available for you in the local market when you sign up. This will be upline support members, first steps to take when you sign up in you local area, weekly meetings, conference calls etc. By building the business with your warm market in your local area, you will be able to learn faster how to build a business, before you move on further away from home and people will be relying on you for support and training.

2. Develop a residual income that gives you time-freedom & resources:

When you start building a business in other cities across your country, you will need resources and time to travel and support your team. It seems logical to me that the first step to do that is for you replace your existing income with a small residual income that will allow you to fire your boss and dedicate yourself to building your business full-time and travel to support and build your team. So put a focus on replacing your income and quitting your job (if your goal is to become a network marketing professional).

3. Momentum build fastest locally: start your weekly meeting

If you are really in for the long term in network marketing and your company – then I only have one pieces of advice. Start a regular local meeting. Full-stop. Many people tell me that they will start a meeting when they will have enough people in their team. So today, book a weekly meeting at your house or a small venue and start this week. Maybe with 3, 5 or 10 people. It does not matter. When you start, your business will start to build. When your team start to see each other on a regular basis they will inspire each other and momentum will build from their. Also, when you organise a weekly meeting is like giving yourself an incentive to build towards it every time :)

Start to build your MLM business in your back-yard to get a back-yard like this

So next time one of your distributors asks you if they can sponsor someone in Rangoon, Bangkok or Adelaide … When they do not actually live there – please advice them to focus and build the majority in their back yard until they can be full-time … and travel the world to help your team. For more details of your company’s support and system how to build nation-wide and internationally – please ask your upline support.

If you like this post, please remember to share it with your friends and your team!

And build your team in your local area code – just for this week and watch the results soar :)

Network Marketing is The Next Major Profession

On April 18, 2011, in Network Marketing, by Masa Cemazar

Happy Thai New Year! (April 2011)

Many of you know that one of my passions, goals and visions is to see that Network Marketing really IS the next major profession like being a doctor, lawyer and university professor. I have good news for you. I think I have just found a place where it ALREADY IS. Welcome to South East Asia.

After 6 weeks of break, I thought to myself today, it is time to get back into the routine of writing my blog! You may be asking: why have you not been in touch or writing? I have spent the last 6 weeks between Thailand and Malaysia, building our business with Miguel and I must say I have never been busier in my life!

We have had some incredible experiences, which make me think that here in South East Asia, network marketing really is the next major profession. Sometimes people ask me, how would I know that network marketing really becomes a recognised profession?

We love network marketing in ASIA: Thais celebrate New Year in colourful shirts - and so did we!

Over 10 million people are involved in Thailand in the network marketing industry, out of which about 35% are full time, which means about 3,5 million are professional network marketers. This is all in the population of about 63,800,000 people. More than 1 in 18 people in Thailand is a full-time network marketer. If you want to check out these statistics look at this page. As a comparison, in Thailand only 0.37 people per 1000 in the population are medical doctors, where as 54 people are network marketers. That’s a lot of network marketers per one medical doctor! Mhmmm… Interesting!

Next thing that I encountered, really helped dawn on me that network marketing really has arrived and is here to stay as the Major profession. On my daily drive back from the office, I came across the building and office of a major Thai network marketing company, that has been in business for 5 years. One night, as I was coming back after 10pm I saw in the window of a huge ground floor customer meeting space that there were more that 100 people on small round tables doing 1:1 presentation in groups of 3 or 4 people. There is more than 700 companies that operate here and all around the city there are thousands of offices like this, eagerly working towards their dreams!

In between a couple of meetings in a lobby of a 5 star hotel, I saw a well dressed gentlemen that also just finished a meeting and I was curious what kind of business he was involved in. My guess was insurance, but he was a top leader of another network marketing company and when we got talking, I discovered he used to be a high-paying lawyer! The title and content of one of my favorite books came to my mind: Dr Charles King: The new professionals. he describes how doctors and lawyers are now getting more involved in network marketing. Here we were – a doctor and a lawyer, exchanging experiences from the industry that has become our passion!

So, if you are still thinking whether you should get involved or not – you are wasting you time! Network marketing is the next major profession -and it is absolutely true that we have a FAR better way.

I would love to know what you think about this list, so please post your comments below.

If you would like to know what I did to finally stop wasting my time and create a multi-6 figure network marketing business, drop me your details here.

Commitment to Network Marketing – No Strings Attached?

On February 22, 2011, in Leadership, by Masa Cemazar

What is your commitment to your network marketing business? Sometimes I watch people start in this business and before they have even created a small team, picked up the phone or introduced the business to 2 people, they are acting like they are in a “no strings attached” relationship.

I was thinking what are the reasons people get so excited and show the apparent interest in starting a network marketing business, but when reality sets in, they have a “no strings attached” attitude. Here are 3 ways you can make sure your team adopt a “I am going to marry this business and make it work” attitude!!!

ARE YOU COMMITED?

1. Educate their expectations: one someone signs up, have a conversation with your distributor what they responsibilities and right in the business will be and what will be your role to most effectively help them in creating the success. Always under-promise and over-deliver.

2.Plug them into the education platform: make sure they can get all the information and personal development that your company is offering, so that they have the best chance of understanding why a SOLID commitment to their business will pay off and why this industry can give them freedom!

3. Establish a daily contact rule: This will help with their consistency to the business – it is sometimes easier to be accountable to someone else than ourselves! Also, you will be able to develop a solid working relationship and teach them one step at a time.

Are you bringing in tons of new people, but your business is just like a revolving door? Starting implementing these three things in your business and watch the commitment of people in your business grow stronger every day.

If you like this post – send it to your friends and your team and let’s help more people commit to their personal best and their path to creating the success they came into this industry for!

7 Essentials for a Network Marketer’s Bag

On February 21, 2011, in Network Marketing, by Masa Cemazar

I am going to keep my post short today! I wanted to give you the essentials that you need to carry in your bag as a network marketer. This post was inspired by the movie Up in the air with George Clooney and by my friend Steve’s similar post about sales people’s back-pack.

What's in your Bag?

1. Belief helmet:  always wear a helmet that protects your belief in our industry, your company and your product!

2. License to hand out ear wax remover: to be able to teach people how to listen more and speak less about themselves

3. Attitude charger: so you can always plug your self right back in and continue with your positive and enthusiastic manner no matter what may be happening

4. Quality Questions Generator: apart from being a good listener, you need to grab your quality questions generator, so you can properly qualify your prospect

5. Follow-up credit-card: to always remember that fortune is in the follow-up and that you must have both an automated and personalised follow-up systems in place

6. An efficiency alarm: to protect yourself from falling in the trap of wasting your time doing non-income-producing activities

7. Your mentor’s business card: to always be able to check in and learn on their mistakes and avoid making them yourself

What do you carry in your bag, fellow networker? I would love to know what you think about this list, so please post your comments below.

If you would like to know what I did to finally stop wasting my time and create a multi-6 figure network marketing business, drop me your details here.

Today I want to discuss the 3 reasons why women are attracted to network marketing profession and how we should adapt our marketing to make it more appealing to them!

Women Creating Change and Opportunity

In the last report of the WFDSA (World Federation of Direct Selling Associations), out of 117 Million people involved in direct selling / network marketing companies world wide  a staggering 76% are women and as high as over 80% in USA, Australia, Canada and UK. In some countries our representation is extremely high, like for example in Japan it is over 90% (check for more information here).

Is your organisation attracting the women who are producing results for themselves and their teams? I think today smart female leaders in our industry also look out for their team and this is why I have decided to put together today’s post and give you a few pointers how you should craft your marketing efforts to attract more powerful and strong women to your team.

1. Women are Driven by Belonging to a Community

We all know that this is the key for our profession – it is creating a community of like-minded individuals that are going in the same direction. So maybe in our marketing we need to show-case the community that women would be a part of, if decided to join our teams. What experiences would women that join our team be a part of? What are the value of the community that they will be a part of?

2. Women Thrive on Being Able to Help Others

Network marketing is really the best business school for everyone who loves helping others (according to R. Kiyosaki), but I believe that women thrive on this especially. Usually, women have an extremely high willingness to help, understanding of others and even sometimes have the tendency to sacrifice themselves too much for their family and friends. But they are an incredible assets to the organisations in network marketing, because they enjoy helping anyone around them and contribute enormously to the community. In our marketing efforts we should show case how women are supported in our business and how they will be able to pass on the knowledge and experiences and make a difference in thousands of other lives.

3. Women Love Creating Their Purpose and Being Recognised for it

Having the chance to work for themselves is for many women an opportunity to take the first step to their independence. I am not speaking just financial independence, but also the fulfillment of their purpose and being recognised for their achievements. The network marketing environment, community and associationg help women find their true purpose in life and what is more impoartnt, in network marketing they will be continuously recognised for their achievements and active pursuit of their purpose. When approaching and interacting with women, we should focus on how network marketing can change their life and help them find the real reason they want their independence.

So now that you understand more why our profession has a female majority – what are you going to do today to suit your marketing efforts to attract more women to your business?

If you enjoyed this post – please share it with your tribes, friends and teams – and let’s make our business (even) more women friendly!

If you are looking for an organisation that believes in women who can change their lives and those of many others, then submit your application here.

Time-Management for Network Marketers (Part 1)

On February 17, 2011, in Time-management, by Masa Cemazar

Today I want to share some of my best tips about time-management for leaders in network marketing. This is a skill that will create more results in your network marketing business, which is why I have decided to dedicate an entire series to it and today we are starting with the first part.

time managenet in MLM

First of all I am sure all of you agree that we CAN NOT manage time. Therefore, time-management is really self-management and really, it is about learning a few simple actions that you repeat over and over and create a habit out of them. Time-management is really about leadership. One of the best results of YOU running a network marketing business is to train your self and START leading yourself. I have spoken a little bit about this in my previous article about START LEADING YOURSELF TODAY. So, if you have not read that post, maybe you should go and check it out!

Let get right to the point. Today you are going to learn my first three tips about time-management for network marketers.

1)   Spend the first 90 min on THE MOST CRUCIAL income producing activity.

First of all, you should probably ask yourself – are you really focussing on a network marketing income to be your primary income? Or are you doing 17 other things on the internet, which are not making you money and you are too disorganised to decide what you should do first. Your only income-producing activity in network marketing will be (ARE YOU READY ???) : interacting with people who are not in your business yet! Talking to them in some form or another is the best thing. I choose to get on the phone or skype first thing in the morning to get some action going and get some sales into my BIZ.

2)   Every day complete 5 tasks you set the day before.

My fellow entrepreneurs, the key is not perfection – it is getting it complete – because if it is not done nothing will change and it will delay you days and months from your ultimate goal J The five tasks should include actions that will help you in the following processes: working on creating some new contacts (leads), supporting and nurturing your team, learning something new, working on yourself. Train yourself to set yourself 5 daily goals and complete them!

3)   Do not look at your email / internet before completing point under 1.

This is probably the greatest advice that I ever got and it took me a few months (!) to train myself to do it. It stops the distraction of having to react to things. How about becoming pro-active versus reactive in what you are doing on a daily basis and using your time wisely! It could just be the difference between making 2011 your best year ever or having an average year … You can pick for yourself !

If you would like more results in your network marketing business, then go here today and start changing your life today – and if you enjoyed my post – please share it with your friends and team!

In today’s post I want to describe three biggest mistakes that network marketers make when choosing people to work with in their MLM organization. Let me explain in details what my aim is here today. I want to give you realistic expectations of who will be the right person that you can partner with and create a life-time friendship and business relationship for your business. But before I do that, let me explain what are the 3 biggest errors in judgement that we make and how to avoid them.

1)   Just because you know them does not mean they are the right people

Family and friends. I have been asked literally thousands of times whether somebody should approach family and friends… and here is my uncut and full view on this topic. One thing is for sure! Unless you have been a hugely successful leader in the past, you do NOT have the credibility with people you know (family and friends) with regards to being an expert in this profession. So make peace with that. Your family and friends will mostly not listen to you OR join they will you for the wrong reason (to help you, please you and support you). Having sad that, you do occasionally have family and friends who share the same vision, who are THE RIGHT people because they are eager to change their life OR over time, while using the products or services of your opportunity (because they want to support you) get inspired and want to become a serious network marketer. YES, there are exceptions. So, the big question is – should you put family and friends on your list? Absolutely. They need to know what you are doing – give them at least the same opportunity you give to every stranger on facebook that you meet casually – you never know – you may just inspire one of them to do what you do and have a life-time business partnership with someone already close to you!

2)  Just because you do not know them, does not mean they are the right people

Since you are embarking on a networking path, you will be meeting lots of strangers and making lots of friends. Trust me, just because you don’t know these people – they are NOT the right people either and in fact, they still do not trust you and you do not have any credibility with you! You have to make friends with people FIRST (and must read: How to make friends and influence people – by Dale Carnegie). Only people who are looking are the right type of people – but you have to make friends first and discover what they are after.

3)   Just because they say they are interested – does not mean they are the right people

Oh, boy – this is a big one! They may say they want to evaluate the opportunity and never will. They may join the opportunity and never do anything. They may promise you that they are coming back into the business to build seriously, but never do it. In one word, judge people by their actions and not they words. It is their timing that will determine their actions. I have found the best recipe to be – give them the next step and see if they complete it. If they do not, this may be the first sign that this is either not the right person or the right timing for them.

In conclusion, be a patient leader. Expose your opportunity to thousands and saw many seeds and then choose the people that have the highest work ethic, desire and coach-ability to do what you do. You only need a handful of serious people – and I promise, you can move mountains with a tight team like that.

Now that you know what to expect – it is time to go to work (if the timing is right for you!) and if you liked this post – share it with your friends and team to give them a boost and point them into the right direction.

If you would like to partner with me in my primary opportunity – go to Work with Masa now and send me your details – I will get in touch with you in the next 24-48 h.

7 WAYS TO CREATE MOMENTUM IN MLM

On January 18, 2011, in Network Marketing, by Masa Cemazar

In today’s post I want to help you with your 2011 results in your network marketing business. In fact, I want to help you create a momentum that simply cannot be stopped. No matter how large or small your organization is, you can follow these principles to create an unstoppable momentum in 90 days.

1.     Look at the calendar

Identify 3 large events (already existing in your company in your local area or event you are going to create with your leadership). These 3 events should be one each 30 days and then also 3 events in between each of the large event. This can be either online or face-to-face events, but I suggest that you have a least one of the three large events in person (real life events) to create the community spirit. Consult your support line about the next 3 monthly events you should be focussing on.

2.     Set ambitious goals

Now having an outlook on the calendar – get the help of your mentor to set some 30, 60 and 90 day goals for yourself and your team. If you have a large existing team – share your vision with your leaders and/or existing members. Commit to people around you to your 90 day vision and have it always in front of you by feeling it, seeing it (on your phone, your vision board, your computer screen saver etc) and speaking about it constantly.

3.     Ramp-up your lead generation

Do twice the effort and take twice the time to create as many leads as possible and sort through to high quality prospects that will be attending the weekly calls, webinars or events that you are planning. Focus on one or two lead generation paths, become an expert in them and get a help of a guru (your support line!).

4.     Focus on one activity

Focus on marketing to people who are not in your organisation yet – leave all other activities aside for 90 days – such as managing and organising your current team. Spend 80% of your time marketing and recruiting people who are your qualified and high quality prospects.

5.     Use a leveraged tool to present your opportunity daily

Make sure your new team members have the chance to expose the opportunity to their prospects on a daily basis or even better 24/7, this can be a either a daily or recorded conference call, presentation, webinar – something you can leverage from in between weekly events. Remember, your success and momentum will depend on the number of exposures or chances for exposure. Again, ask your support line for help with this.

6.     Build for each event like a master

Take each weekly event (or online webinar) and each monthly event and build for it like a master – expose to most people possible both face-to-face, one-on-one and with the help of social media and SEO.

7.     Recognise and celebrate

At the end of each busy week (online or off-line) celebrate and recognise the achievements of your team and have a special recognition protocol set in place for monthly events and a major one for the event after 90 days to celebrate your vision.

Here you go, the perfect recipe to create momentum at the beginning of 2011 – do you have any other suggestions or advice? Oh – and if you like this post please share it with your friends and your team.

Who will have the biggest momentum in 90 days?
